In John 15, Jesus says, “I am the vine, you are the branches.”
I love this organic imagery. There is life pulsing through the vine, flowing through the branches. What does that feel like to you? How does this give fresh perspective of God’s Spirit in your branchy life?
In these spring days, we see warm weather alternating with cold, and sunny days intermingled with rain. How do you notice life’s flow in gardens or prairies, fields or forests? How does that serve as an image for spiritual life? What lessons do you learn there?
I treasure the promise that God is the vinegrower, who continues to care for us even when we grow a bit scraggly. Take a few moments to dwell in the promise. God is not done with you. God continues to love and shape you. Christ dwells in your very being, organically with nutrients from others like sunshine and soil.
People of St. Timothy, there are many concerns and stresses in your world. These all matter deeply, as do you. Take courage, for God is even now organically present with life, whether or not that is seen by our eyes.
