Come to Me, All You Who Are Weary

Written by St. Timothy

July 3, 2020

In Matthew’s gospel for this Sunday, Jesus prayed, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants.”

Jesus regularly sought to share God’s wisdom in ways that anyone “from the least of these” on up could hear and receive. How do you see this topsy-turvy wisdom at work in children and in others who are often viewed as lower on the totem pole of society?

In the gospel passage, people complained because John the baptizer was too religious, and they complained that Jesus was not religious enough. How does Jesus change and surprise us about what matters most to God?

In the same gospel passage, Jesus invites those who are weary and carrying heavy burdens to come and find rest. Where do you find rest this week? What helps you find rest for your soul?

Peace, Hans
