Getting Involved

St. Timothy members are involved in many ministries. Below are just a few. We invite you to contact the church office if you would like more information on how to join and other opportunities to gather, learn and serve.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

If you enjoy knitting and crocheting, we invite you to check out the Prayer Shawl Ministry. This small group gets together on the fourth Saturday of the month at 1:00 pm for fellowship and community and to work on projects that will be gifted to people who need comfort and solace in time of need. The shawls are symbolic reminders of the inclusive, unconditionally loving God.

Quilting Ministry

Our quilters are a busy group of people who meet on the second and third Tuesday morning of every month between September and May to create quilts for Lutheran World Relief.

Justice Seekers

Inspired by Micah 6:8 and St. Timothy’s vision as outlined in Matthew 22:37–39 , a core group of Justice Seekers is assisting the St. Timothy community in seeking justice in all its activities so that individuals, families, and children in our neighborhood and beyond will experience the fullness of God’s justice. Learn more here and watch the newsletter for latest opportunities to get involved.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels is a program that provides nutritious meals to people who cannot access or prepare food for themselves. It is an important way to meet the dietary needs of those who are trying to stay in their own homes and maintain their independence. Volunteers also serve as a check-up system to make sure that those who are receiving meals are safe and well each day.

We welcome additional volunteers, including alternate fill-in drivers, for this program since some of our older members have reluctantly needed to retire from volunteering.

Loaves & Fishes

Loaves & Fishes is a non-profit, volunteer-driven agency dedicated to feeding the hungry of the Twin Cities metro area with dignity and respect.

We provide meals on the fourth Tuesday of every month from 5–6 pm at St. Matthew’s Church.

We welcome cooks, prep chefs and servers for this program!

Every Meal

St. Timothy is part of an exciting ministry called Every Meal: on Fridays we deliver weekend food bags to 50+ children at Como Park Elementary School. The food bags are packed and delivered to the school and all they need is a friendly volunteer to deliver them to the classrooms. We partner with volunteers from New Life Presbyterian each week, so we get to meet others from the neighborhood. Bag delivery takes about 30 minutes, is typically on Fridays from 1:30-2:00 pm.

Habitat for Humanity

Since 1990 St. Timothy has served the community with Habitat for Humanity. The congregation supports this ministry financially and through volunteers working on the homes that are being built in many capacities.

Memorial Garden

The St. Timothy Memorial Garden is a place to memorialize past, present, and future members of  St. Timothy Lutheran Church and their families. It offers memorialization options that will meet most needs. Learn more here.
