When we look at the heavens, we see stars that are light-years distant from us. When we study the intricacies of leaves, we learn of photosynthesis that sustains life. When we listen to children, we hear life’s movement in real time. Each of these offers a chance to connect with the mystery of life.
This Sunday we will observe the festival of the Holy Trinity. Instead of trying to explain God as Trinity, we get a chance to be opened to the mystery that is both right before us — and far beyond us. We get a chance to notice children and adults playing in the story of creation. We get a chance to hear the promises of God’s goodness in our world — and transcending our understanding. We get a chance to embrace mystery.
Whatever “faith” means to you, I hope that part of it includes wonder at the mysteries of life — from stars and leaves and children to God’s trinitarian love for you through Jesus in the Holy Spirit. Thanks for all the ways you share this journey!
Peace,
Hans
