St. Timothy has opened it doors to families seeking asylum through Faithful Hospitality.
What is Faithful hospitality?
Faithful Hospitality is an initiative of Interfaith Action of Greater St. Paul to provide a mobile shelter system in local faith communities in response to the need for overflow shelter space for asylum seeking families experiencing homelessness. This initiative is fully funded by the State of Minnesota. Hennepin County case managers refer families to the Faithful Hospitality shelters.
How does it work?
Each month three different area congregations host Faithful Hospitality – providing overnight shelter space for up to 24 guests each night. As we only serve families, many of our guests are children. St. Timothy first opened its doors in May 2024.
How can you get involved?
Volunteers are needed to serve as overnight hosts to help provide a safe, welcoming space and compassionate support for asylum seekers. Overnight hosts are on duty from 7pm to 7am weekdays and 7pm to 8am on weekends during the month of May. Resources and training are provided for hosts.
