In Jeremiah 31, the prophet says, “I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”
On Reformation Sunday, we hear about how God will put the word on our hearts. Why is it “on” our hearts? One rabbi suggested that God writes the word “on” our hearts because our hearts break, and when that happens the word seeps in that “they shall be my people.” Are there times you’ve noticed that in your life?
Three years ago, St. Timothy became a Reconciling in Christ congregation, and we are still learning. How have you been learning about ways that God writes the word on the hearts of those in the LGBTQ community?
God is not done re-forming us. From learning about gender-appropriate pronouns to hearing more deeply the lived experiences of queer neighbors, how have you noticed God’s re-forming grace in your own life and faith?
Beloved of God, I am grateful for the ways that you keep opening your hearts to be formed by God. Thanks for the joyful way that you share your living faith through St. Timothy!
