In Mark 1 as we begin the season of Lent, we hear: “Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit descending like a dove on him.”
So many important things in scripture happen around water. What “water” stories do you remember from the Bible? What “water” stories do you have in your own life? What do you notice about those stories?
At baptism, as Jesus came out of the water he saw an openness to heaven and God’s Spirit coming upon him. It is a story of powerful unity and connection of heaven and earth, spirit and humanity. How do water and water stories connect you to God’s love and belonging? Where does that happen for you?
Water is precious to life. How can we celebrate and protect water in our lives and choices?
