In Matthew 25, the people say, “When was it we saw you a stranger and welcomed you?”
What does it feel like to be welcomed as you are? What does it feel like to be welcomed by someone when you feel like a stranger?
While we can sometimes catch glimpses of Christ’s love reflected in our friends, Jesus repeatedly invites us to consider what we have not imagined. How is Christ present in the little interactions of welcome, feeding, and befriending?
Dr. Martin Luther King said we are tied together in an inextricable web, and invited us to live into the beloved community. Welcome is not the same as agreement, but welcome leads us to be vulnerable and affected by one another. How can our community share Christ’s welcome this week?
People of St. Timothy, I appreciate your commitment to welcome through the Reconciling in Christ process and in many other ways throughout the year.
